Havering Midweek 5

This 2nd leg of the ELVIS league - East London fiVe Interclub Series - saw 250 runners enjoying this Tuesday night fixture on an evening which promised rain but remained dry. The Dagenham men's scoring team was made up of Gary Coombes 31:15, PaulPrior 33:32, Peter Salmon 33:47, Callum Cockley 36:52, Mick Brown 37:59

 and Ian Cummins 39:32


 The ladies scoring team was led home by Jennifer Akroyd 38:28, Rahana Islam 40:26, Kirstie Woodgate 45:53, Suzanne Castle 46:02

As an interesting footnote Paul Grange was 1st over the line, but due to an administrative error (he didn't to buy a number) his run didn't count. Next fixture East End Roqad Runner's Midsummer 5k on 21st June in the Olympic Park.


Southend Half

19 mighty Da88ers headed east to the seaside for their annual Jolly of running and fun. Taking in the ice creams, fish & chips and beer following the race were Paul Grange 78:41 followed by:

Olympic Park Run

Louise Chappell 55:47 PB took the 10k option of this race around the Olympic Park, who's patron was Olympian Double Gold Medalist Dame Kelly Holmes. Taking the 5k option was Suzanne Castle 26:26, Steve Easley 31:37 and Christine Lardener 35:12 PB.


Crown to Crown 5k Gary Cardnell 24.20



2 Da88ers ventured north to the Staffordshire and Yorkshire to take part in international Triathlons competitions for the club. Joel Denning finished his Ironman 70.3 miles (1.2 swim, 56 bike, 13.1 run) in 6:18:32 with a finish in front of Shugborough Hall, Lord Lichfields old Manor. Jenny Akroyd ventured to her roots with a trip to her home county for the Olympic distance (1500m/40km/10km) ITU World Triathlon with the swim in Waterloo Lake, Roundhay park and bike & run around Leeds city centre, finishing at Millennium Square in 2:54:16.
