The Club - Founded in 1988. A jogging club to start with but over the years we have progressed to a full road running and cross country club.
We have a membership of around 70 people split evenly between Men and Ladies between the ages of 16 and 65 years. We have a thriving Senior and Veteran section who compete in various Road Races and both the Essex Cross Country League and South Essex Cross Country League. However, many members still prefer Endurance Races and other challenging style events. There is also a well established Walking Section and the monthly 'off road cycle' rides in the summer should you prefer something different. All standards are always welcome - It doesn't matter whether you're fast, slow, large or small, we'll look after you.
What do I do next? - What we basically suggest is try us out and see if its what you are looking for before becoming a member.
How to find us - The club meet on a Tuesday and Thursday evening at our new home at May & Bakers Sports & Social Club, Rainham Road South, Dagenham, Essex. Entry to the Car Park is via the mini roundabout in Dagenham Road RM7 0QX (see map below). Nearest Underground station is Dagenham East, National Rail station is Romford. From Romford you can take Bus number 103 and alight in Rainham Road South and walk down Foxlands Lane and the club is on the left. Alternatively take the 174 and alight in Dagenham Road and turn down the private road at the mini roundabout to the Car Park.
Upon Arrival - We normally have around 4 or 5 different groups from walkers right up to the fast runners. We will be able to fit you into a group that will suit your needs. We ensure that no-one runs alone
If you could aim to be there before 7.15pm so we can get you sorted out into a group that's right for you and take it from there. If you could ask for any committee member upon arrival they will look after you (see profile page for details of the committee members).
How do I become a member? - The current membership fees are £10 per annum to join the running club, renewable in April. This can give you discounts into organised races and also some sports stores. If you intend on running in official races then you will also need to pay an affiliation fee of £5 to England Athletics. As we train out of the May and Bakers Club and if you intend on attending the training nights then you will need to join the club as well(membership fees dependent on your situation and when you join).
